I have a 2000 alero with a 3.4. I just turned 115,000 km. ( about 72,000 miles) last night with only a few of the common problems.
I just replaced the heater fan resistor, and the battery and had the intake gasket replaced at about 25,000 miles. not to mention the normal items (brakes tires, etc.
I think this is a very good car which GM should not have stopped building.
Some people complain that they have a service soon, abs and trac control light come on even if the brakes have just been repaired. It took me a while and a lot of thought but I finally figured out that the brake job loosened the wire harness at the wheel. I jiggled the wire harness and that solved the problem. I hope this works for you.
