Meet my rot spot

Nice rides Jeckel! I see that you are from Ada county, I'm from Canyon County. Only knew that because I thought the pic of your Yamaha Roadstar background looked familiar, Lake Lowell!
Also saw you Ada plates on your GP. btw nice looking GP!
I'm actually in Canyon County myself. Down by 12th and Greenhurst.
Ah makes sense! I am over by Montana and Homedale. I went ahead and got the 2001 Pontiac Bonnie yesterday! , Pulled into the drive way and found out im gonna need a new water pump! Not happy but you know it can always happen, Something is expected to happen on it since I only paid $2000 for it. Glad I got home when I did. It was a 30 mile drive from where I bought it from. I didn't hear the water pump bearings go out until I actually pulled into the driveway My thoughts to that noise was Nice! ( Sarcasm). So I will be making a trip to Autozone in a couple of days now lol ... But I think while I'm waiting I will detail the thing.![]()
not coolbut on the upside, you did get a tuneable car. where did you get it?
Oh, E85 conversion started, car is running well, still need some more tuning.
BTW: it sounds exactly like this :/. Didn't when I test drove it and on the way home. Really upsets me.Not cool at all!. The car and transmission is in good shape!, but talked with the dealer today and told them about the Water pump maybe making the noise. and they said they would go ahead and replace it with not cost and my Insurance would cover all the towing cost on Monday. I bought it from 1st Choice Auto in Garden City. But there's one more thing
, Starting to think instead of it being the Water pump it's a Spun rod bearing!... It's just my luck! Thinking about asking them for $500 to help with the repairs, Also thinking im just going to throw a Used 3800 Series ll I found on Ebay for $500 with 121,000 on it. And have my trusted mechanic install it for me. My $2000 Nightmare Bonnie
. Do you have any Advice?
Ok, I will let them replace the water pump , Only reason it made me think it was a spun rod bearing was because it was a loud knocking and squealing. When I tried moving it onto the other side of the drive way yesterday, The engine felt very unstable and shaky . We will see what they say Monday I guess, Thanks.Slow down there turbo, you just got the car and now you want to replace the engine?! Let them replace the water pump and see if the noise goes away. A spun rod bearing is going to manifest itself in a much more obvious way than just a noise.
Yes, don't buy a motor from ebay. I got mine from barger's on garrity with 23K on it, series III NA for 800. But first find out why its doing what its doing, and I know a guy that has done several motor / tranny swaps on these cars. very quick and does a good job. he helped with mine. let me know if it turns out to be an internal problem.
Well isn't there a pretty big difference between the Series II and Series III? And isnt the throttle body Drive by wire?... Won't I also need a different PCM and harness and some other things? Gonna see what the dealer says tomorrow...
