Show and Tell thread

Wow, that sounds like a royal pain in the ass! I'm planning a Subaru engine swap but those things are like Legos. Sounds like your best bet might be to find a wrecked S/C Grand Prix, Park Ave or Riv. You'll likely want the HD trans that they come with or you'll grenade your stock one in short order, plus the bellhousing is a wee bit different. ECM and wiring harness will also be essential, make the engine think it's still in the car it came from. Anyway, that's no small task. Good luck.

Yeah, I guess I like frustrating myself on purpose. I was thinking I could find a harness from a 3.8 'trigue, or better yet the engine/harness from a 3.8 trigue and top swap that. A lot of the "assembly" work will most likely be done in my garage, with the final assembly being done at the end of the process. Basically I need my car as a DD for now, so I'll be simultaneously building the "new" engine to put in and prepping everything, and then I'll probably have a 5-7 day window to swap, test, and hope.

That could work, but then you end up with the non-HD trans and an ECM that doesn't have optimal fuel maps for a supercharged motor. And you still have the bellhousing issue. Your time constraints also make getting a new trans make more sense, as you could get them bolted together and ready to go in the car before pulling the old assembly. Best way to get them out is dropping them from the bottom as a package. Just make sure you have a backup DD if you end up running over your 5-7 day window!

Yeah, the more that I think about it, pulling a trans/engine from a GTP or something would make more sense than just an engine. Also the ECM I suppose, and just find a 3.8 intrigue harness

@Nick1233- Looks good, that hood is gnarly. Notice the tail light tint too. I've always been a fan of the dark green paint.

I've got some pics up under the thread I started titled "chopped automatic floor shifter"-they're nothing special, just took them after I had the tint done, almost a year ago now. I'll get more as soon as weather permits a washing, but I'm probably gonna post them on w-body.com because I can't put them up directly here.

Thank you sir, the hood is just black right now since I was too impatient to wait for paint and just slapped it on. And I saw those pics, very nice.

@Trigue_2000_gls- Nice pictures. They both look really clean. I think the Intrigues in white look so elegant.

@Jeckel- I like that Fiero of yours, not often do you see them, especially in that condition.

Thanks!

Ryan's Intrigue is only a GX, but he's done a lot to it. He swapped out to a leather interior, upgraded the brakes off the Impala, tinted the windows, added mud flaps and window vents, and had someone make him up some OSV badges that he stuck on there. He actually won 1st place at the 2010 Olds Rally in Sturbridge, Mass. ?He's definitely a bigger Olds fan than I am to say the least.

I like those hoods Nick. Wish I could find a good deal on one. I need to update the pics on my GTP, since it is a little different now. I need to do some work on the Intrigue as well. Got some 5 spoke GP wheels for it. toying with the idea of tinting the tails on it also. But, since its the wifes car she kinda frowns on me doing stuff like that to it. She won't even let me tint the windows. Or get a trunk lid with the stock spoiler. The only reason she is letting me change the wheels is because they have really good tires on them.

I may have a pic of my 'Trigue with 5 spoke Pregen GP wheels and tinted tails on here or on my computer if you want to see. And I got a huge steal of a deal on my hood or I wouldn't have bought that one. I like the SD hoods more (well I did until I got this one, it grew on me) but I got this for technically free (traded some stuff that came with my car/was laying in the garage).

Here is one of the Intrigue with the new GP wheels I just put on:

Trigue, look into Comp-G grand prix rims, I think you'll like them. That's what I'm trying to find for my prix, either that or the "snowflake" Bonne rims from around 2000 or so. I have the un-polished version of Jeckel's right now (which look great btw) and I think they're too much rim for the look I want. And Jeckel, I can see if I can find the silver ABS caps that I have laying around, better than the pontiac on an olds ;)
