Couple days ago I noticed a subtle whine coming from the driver front end on startup. Normal startup has the, I believe, electric air pump running for about 30 seconds, shutting off, and then the engine rpm's drop slightly. There has been no change to how the vehicle runs. So this morning before startup I pulled out the driver side headlight assembly, saw straight down what I think is the air pump (had a P/N and Bosch label on it), and started the car. The subtle whine is definitely coming out of this device. I can best liken it to the same sound as my hand held "Dirt Devil". Is this the air pump? Is this the beginning of bearing failure? I have 6 months and 6000 miles of GMPP remaining. Also, just behind the driver headlight assembly in the inner fender there is a cylindrical filter of some sort. I noticed a gaseous vapor coming out of it while I was listening for the air pump bearing noise. What is this? Thanks in advance for comments and/or advice.
