Hey guys, newbie here. I need some expertise in solving a question. I recently inherited what I have come to believe is a somewhat rare car. The vehicle in question is a 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL 2 Door Coupe with the 3.4 Ltr. engine. Just above the "Cutlass Supreme" emblems on both the sides of the car, and along the back of the trunk, there are what I would call "plaques" that say, "1992 Limited Edition NHRA Spring Nationals".
Now, to describe the vehicle a little bit better, this was my Granddad's car which he purchased new in 1992 at the age of 81 years old. Being that he was retired, and lived in a small rural community where Everything is within a few miles from home, the car has low mileage (37,000). He used to drive it down to the "coffee clutch" every weekday morning to visit with his other retiree friends, to church on the weekends, and regardless of mileage would take it into the dealership for at the very least an oil change every couple of months just to see a few new faces and have someone else to talk to.
To say my Granddad was meticulous is the greatest understatment of the year. Not only did he give me EVERY receipt from his service visits to the dealership, he included a small spiral notebook containing the location, amount in gallons, amount in price, and the octane level of EVERY gas fill up the car ever received. To put it mildly, in my opinion this car is in MUSEUM quality.
The question is however, is this truly a rare car? I called the General Motors Historical hotline phone number and gave them my V.I.N. They investigated and returned my call a day later to tell me this; in 1992 Oldsmobile only produced 1194 Cutlass Supreme SL Coupes with the 3.4 liter engine. They had no records or information on the vehicle.
So, does anyone else have any knowledge or history with these Limited Editions? Is the car worth keeping stashed away in my garage or should I drive it? SORRY TO BE SO LONG-WINDED HERE (ESPECIALLY AS A NEWBIE) BUT I HAD TO STATE MY CASE!!!
Thanks in advance for any direction someone can point me in!
