I have a '90 Olds 88, 3800. My transmission slips when taking off from stops after being on a longer highway trip. Won't slip while at any driving speed or stop and starts around town. Usually shifting into park for a few seconds before taking off cures it. Tranny oil and filter was supposed to have been changed a year ago but I'm starting to wonder if the work was really done. I was under the car a week after the work was supposed to have been done and it didn't look as if the trans pan had been removed, although it did work fine for about 4 months after. Maybe the mechanic just dumped some conditioner in it.. Oil doesn't smell fresh but it's still red colored. So, am I looking at replacing the tranny or try something else? Thanks.
