...headlights off? As soon as I turn the car on, the lights are on. There's an off switch, but it doesn't actually turn the lights off. My car didn't come with a manual, and I've heard there was some tricky way to get the lights off. It's just really annoying when I'm parked somewhere and can't turn the lights off while I wait. Any clues? It's a 99.

You will need to put your parking break on.. when that is on, and you start up the lights will be off.

two kee kees i find it interesting that you want to shut the head lights off while the engine is running ,that is one thing i really like about my old car , new cars do not seem to have that option , everyone has their head lights on even stuck in day time traffic . this is one of the reasons i do not want a new car ! my old car consumes a lot of amps to have the head lights on , the alternator then has to put out more amps to recharge the battery . An alternator under full load takes HP from the engine and the engine consumes more fuel and creates more heat in the alternator and engine , makes a difference on a very hot day . Maybe new car headlights consume less amps, but still has to consume amps . Environmental groups should get on to this to lobby governments to tell car manufactures to install this option .

If you want to get an owner's manual, here's a link (to see if one is available..........it is an online manual). This is a GM website, happy hunting (but you should be good): Site Maintenance
