Hi hope someone can give ideas of where to start.2 days ago car lost dash lights, tail lights, auto on ability of headlights and it chimes when in gear (not in neutral or park). Have checked all fuses (bulbs being bad make blinkers flash quickly rulled that out) Have searched forums for anything like this and can't come up with anything. This car has a new bcm 3 mts old. Besides not being able to drive after dark the constant chime is gonna drive me crazy!
This forum has been a huge help to me with my car.especially with the antitheft problems..please any ideas you might have on why all of the sudden these problems happened. Thanks!

The chime sounds like the seat-belt warning? I forget.

Have you check the fuses on the side of the passenger-side dash panel?

Do you have brake lights?

Do you have any headlights?

Do you have interior lights when you open the door?

Do the dash gauges work?

Does the radio work?

Sounds like you may have to get a Dealer's Service Manual (~$100+ on ebay), and see what circuits/fuses are bad.

Good Luck!

Everything works..headlights yes if manually turned on..not automatically as before, yes to brake, back up, all signal markers, interior, seat belts ok..as it chimes regardless, have chiltons..no codes come up either..just not sure where to start..what could cause all this..at once...???

So, it seems like the problems are:

1) No parking lights/rear tail-lights - other than brake lights.
2) No dash lights.
3) Annoying chime.
4) No auto headlight.

#1 is very serious. You could get hit, and/cause an accident after dark.

#2 isn't safe. Also, likely not legal to drive at night like that.

Sounds like a fuse.

Chilton's will likely not have the information that you need. The Dealer's Service Manuals have all of the wiring diagrams, in detail, for your car. That's what I had to used when I installed my remote starter.

I guess the GM wiring diagrams make sense to someone that is used to their layout. :) I don't find the wiring diagrams easy to follow from one page to the next. Or, to locate the area that I care about.

Although, for my '92 and '94 Olds, I never had much problem with those wiring diagrams.

And, again, there are also fuses on the side of the passenger-side dash. You have to open up the passenger-side door, and there is a panel on the side of the dash. Could be a fuse, relay, head-light switch, etc.

Use an automotive test light, or a voltmeter, to see if voltage is at those points.

Good Luck!

Try seeing if your parking brake is set. Even if it barely pushed it sets off a sensor and will cause the constant chime only when in gear and no lights will work. If its not seth there might be the wire or sensor going bad sending a false signal.

Well discovered emg brake was clicked one notch down..light not activated..also unhooked battey and let it reset..all working fine..sometimes its the simple things that stump us the most
