I saw a nice car in the dealer's lot but didn't know what it was. There was no markings whatsoever on the car, and no owner's manual in the glove box.
But I loved the car and decided to buy it, whatever it was.
The dealer told me it was an Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. Ok, that's fine with me - whatever - I will take it.
The price was only $4,995. Canadian.
The car is all white, even the grill, and it doesn't have a spot of rust on it. Everything checks out and it passed emissions with flying colors.
It's loaded with just about every feature I can think of...3.8 litre engine, 8-way power front seats, passenger side climate control, cruise, tilt, power windows, dual mirrors, ABS brakes with advanced traction control, all leather interior...the list goes on.
And my insurance is under $700. Canadian a year (around $450. USD).
The car seems to be in near brand new condition with only slight wear on the front seats. But I can even fix that up with some light-grey leather touch-up dye (or whatever is used to touch up light-grey leather).
I'm sure that if the dealer realized it was an 88 Royals LSS and not a Cutlass Ciera, the price would have been significantly more.
And I'm very happy he realized only after the fact (my bill of sale even says Cutlass Ciera).
