I am looking to purchase at the beginning of October engine mounts for a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado. I had the factory mounts replaced. The mounts are not correct. The car vibrates very badly. I noticed they are not factory oem but some aftermarket brand.

I know the GM factory mounts are hard to come by. I am looking to purchase new or used mounts from someone here or if someone knows where I can locate a good set of mounts.

I want the vibration gone. I hate feeling it in the steering wheel and you can see it looking at the passenger seat and seat belt. It only happens at idle or in park.

It is the last thing I need to do to the car. I have replace so many other parts with new GM parts. I started on this car as a project in 2007 and I am almost at the end if I can get these mounts replaced. All of the parts I have replaced were factory original. That is impressive. The only thing that was not was the catalytic converter.

I bought some mounts off Ebay recently, and they were the wrong ones. I cannot keep gambling like that.

If anyone has idea of where and how to locate new ones, that is fine too. I have tried different GM dealers across the country. None have them even in old stock.

I will purchase solid used ones from someone. Please feel free to message me here privately or respond to this thread..

Thank you for your help.

When I first saw your post I have to admit I thought you were smoking crack. Then I started a search of my own and found that not only are these mounts very rare, but they're rare across all of the L27 3800's. I'm shocked that such a common platform and wear item would be so rare. The ones that I have found are very costly. Bizarre.

No, I am not. That is funny what you said. I have restored this car back to factory condition and I have learned so much. I was restoring my Ninety Eight at the same time. I learned parts and how to repair and replace and restore things. It is easy to find things for the Ninety Eight. The Toronado and Trofeo were rare cars in the end too. The parts are hard to come by believe me. I just hate that every time a guy posts he is parting out a car, I miss out.

I do not know why GM did that. It was not wise if you ask me.

What did you find? I could only find those nasty after market brands.

Any suggestions?

I have a GM lower mount that I replaced new when it was still available on a 92 Trofeo. It has only around 2,000 miles on it & the car was in a major accident. So if you are interested I do have it. I also have 18 Trofeo parts cars & my own website at trofeoparts.com You can email me direct at trofeo92@msn.com

Believe me, I know the rarity of the Toronado. What was astounding to me is the L27 motor mounts in general, whether it be a Park Ave, LeSabre, Bonneville - they're simply non-existant or very costly. Hopefully Trofeoparts will help you out for a reasonable amount of $

You really hit that on the head. That really does not make any sense why GM did that. what are people supposed to do? You would think they would still produce them because there are so many of these cars that used them and 3800 V6's on the road.

Toronado is a rare one indeed....

It is sad GM discontinued Oldsmobile and some of its legendary models.

I made contact with Trofeoparts.

so did trofeoparts help you out? did you install? vibration gone?

He and I exchanged a few emails and I found him to be quite nice. I told him I would contact him at the end of this month ( this week ) to do the deal. I have his email address still.

I will let you know when it is done. Thank you for asking.

Hammer, we could not come to an agreement on price. He is a very nice man. I am back to square one. Sorry I did not have better news.
