Hello all! I am the owner of 1995 Olds 88 four door sedan and was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to the step by step proceedure for removing a non-working driver side door lock actuator and installing a new one.
I have to use my key to unlock the door upon entering the automobile. The remote control locks all the doors on demand and unlocks all doors except the driver door lock.
I have removed the door panel to take a look out of curiousity and was quite intiminated by the close space to work along with the several control rods.
I am not a complete novice at doing such projects as I have just recently successfully put a new actuator in the passenge door of my 2000 Ford f-150 truck. I might add that I did receive all my help in this job from several knowlegable people that responded to my problem when I posted it on the Ford Truck Forums on the enternet.
Would respectfully like to hear from anyone that has the expertise to get me going in the right direction on this little dooze.

I had that problem on my previous Oldsmobile Ninety Eight. I had to take it to the dealership and have it replaced. I was told that with a lot of those GM cars the lock works well in cool or cold weather, but when it gets hot, something expands causing it not to work. That is when you know it is going bad. It has to be replaced. I replaced the drivers door one on my old Oldsmobile Ninety Eight. It was common on Cadillac Deville and other GM cars. They made the part better in later years.

It was like 200-300 to get it fixed. I would not advise taking that door a part either.
