Hi All!!
I have a 93 Regency Elite with the factory AM/FM/tape player. I found out the hard way (before reading this forum) that other GM AM/FM/CD players will fit in the dash but due to the overhang of the dash cover, you cannot get the CD into the slot. I want to put a GM factory CD player in the car to keep the steering wheel controls. I have read the threads about the steering wheel controls and the divorced CD player. My concern: I found a divorced CD player for a 95 Buick Riviera. If my car came WITHOUT a factory CD player, will my factory AM/FM/tape player be able to "communicate" with and run the Riviera CD player? Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the 93 Regency Elite stereo system with divorced CD player? Or is this not worth doing? Thanks in advance for any advice.
Sincerely, Dave.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm sure someone on here knows, sorry i don't. I suspect that if it came on a GM then it may be possible, i hope.

Did'nt these come with CD players ? Do you have a pic of what it looks like now ?

These cars only came with CD players if ordered when new (optional). Otherwise, you did not get one. No, I don't have a pic - It looks like the dash does with no CD player...

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the AM/FM/Cassette/CD player system for the 1993 Olds 98 and/or 1995 Buick Riviera?? Please help!!

Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Dave.

May not help but can say this about a 92 Regency Elite. I have the
AM-Stereo-FM-Stereo-Cassette-with-Equalizer model. I have seen
descriptions saying this model can be used with a multi-CD changer.
There are 4 connection ports on the back (5 with the steering wheel
connector?)

One 4-wire connector goes to RR-, RR+, LR-. LR+
(light blue, dark blue, yellow, black)

One 4-wire connector goes to LF-, LF+, RF-, RF+
(grey, brown, dark green, light green)

One 6-wire connector goes to GRD, PLT, DIM, ANT, IGN, BAT
(black, dark green, grey, pink, yellow, orange)

Last 6-wire connector goes to L-AUX, AUD-C, R-AUX, AUD-C, VOICE, VOICE-C
BUT this car does not have that connector. And reading
the owner's manual for the 92, the only indication of a
supported CD player is a single-play one that mounts in the
dash. I also see nothing on my radio controls themselves
that indicate it actually will work with a changer - unless
some combination of button presses connects to the
CD changer, etc - since not supported by the 92, not
docmented?

What does your owner's manual say about CD player/changer
and controls? Since you have removed your radio and tried
to replace it with a CD player did you see an extra, unused
connector in the wiring harness?

This is a great question, I have always wondered it my self.

Have you shopped for a service manual for your car? They are cheap, and they have all of the answers (but it may take some studying.

I believe when the CD is a separate unit from the main receiver it is called a "Slave" player. I have several of those, and two from Rivieras. I have checked the part number on the slave unit and it is the same exact one used on the '91-'94 "98".

You need to call John at Precision Radio in Texas, he can answer your questions.
