I'm trying to access the speedo/gauges in my 84 Cutlass Supreme coupe to switch them out with the Rallye Pac gauges. I've removed the 4 screws along the bottom edge of the vinyl rectangle that surrounds the gauges. That frees up the bottom edge but the top is still held firmly in place and I don't know how the get it free. Also, will the Rallye Pac gauges hook right into the plugs that are already in use by the stock speedo/gauges or will it have to be rewired to work properly? I'd appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks much.

I changed the gauges in my 82 cutlass, while doing that I found that there are screws(6 or 8mm if I remember) set back up/behind the clear plastic part that don't even look like they have anything to do with the cluster itself. There should be a screw on each side of the cluster and 2 or 3 screws along the top of the cluster. Since this has been 2 1/2 years ago and I'm nowhere around the car to check right now I think that everything plugged right into the stock wiring harnesses. On the other hand the stock dash doesn't have a tach in it so if you are adding a tach, you will have to run the wire to the distributor. If you have and specific questions feel free to ask it may make me think of other details.

Thanks for your response. As for the screws "set back up/behind the clear plastic" that you were talking about, I'm assuming these are for the cluster itself. Sorry for not being clear...I cannot yet access behind the plastic; I'm stuck at the rectangular vinyl box thing (part of the dash itself) surrounding the cluster and clear plastic window. The 4 screws that I took out were on the bottom of this "box" with the heads facing the floor. Since I took them out, the vinyl surround is loose at the bottom but still held in place at the top. I can tilt the bottom out a bit but the top is still secure. It seems like there's some sort of clips/screws attaching it to the rest of the dash and I don't know how to get them loose/unattached. Any info's greatly appreciated...thanks again.

Well worse case senerio, if you do not get it by June 12th, I will be back home and be able to look at my car and tell you for sure the specific details. I just can't remember with out being able to see it right now.

i was looking at getting a 1983 cutlass supreme that had a jimmy rigged 403 but it needs a new tranny and the gauges dont work. He wants 3,000 for it i was just wonderin if it would be a good price. It has a custom glossy blue paint job and new carpet. Get back to me with your thoughts. THX

I would pass on it, if the 403 has been "jimmy rigged" as you put it, there's no telling what else might be half-assed about the car. I would be afraid to put that much down without seeing some documentation as far as the engine being fresh, new tranny, etc.
