I am trying to replace my front axle 4wd actuator on a 2002 olds bravada. After much searching I am unable to locate it. I was told it was on the right side of the vehicle. I took the inspection plate cover off per the manuals instruction but still was unable to locate the actuator. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello,

Looking at a Chilton's manual for 2002-2003 Trailblazer & Bravada, page 1-20 had a picture of the front differential. It appears that the actuator is located on the front driver's side lower corner of the differential. Hope this helps.

I'm also having AWD problems with a relative's ride. Which transfer case do you have and how were you able to determine that the problem was the actuator on the front differential?

Thanks.

I see the manual is just about worthless. I was able to look at the inlaw's Bravada today. After dropping the splash pan there was no actuator on the front differential that I could see. More surprising was the half-shaft for the passenger wheel passing through the oil pan casting.

The only actuator I could find is on the transfer case on the driver's side. Anybody know how to test these on the vehicle?

The manual is worthless and the hayes manual did not show anything,i talked to a few people and they told me the actuator was on the right side of the front axle. I looked for a 1/2 an hour, but was unable to locate it.

I don't think there is an actuator on the front differential. One way to test that idea might be to have the truck on the ground in neutral with the parking brake applied and ignition off, then try turning the front driveshaft by hand. If there is a release in the front end, the shaft should turn. If not, you shouldn't be able to turn it.

The Bravada I'm looking at was built in April '01 according to the door tag. Whether or not anything changed later in the production run, I can't say. This one has an actuator on the transfer case on the driver's side.

I don't think bravada has actuator on front axle since it's and just transfer case has one...awd smart trac
