I have a 2002 Bravada AWD with 132,000 miles. It is nice but the smart track AWD was terrible until I found out the previous owner removed AWD and converted to rear wheel drive. That sucks. So I finally have my first problem. When driving all the sudden my ABS light and Brake light and Seatbelt Light and Air Bag Light came on all at the same time. Then they went off and then back on.
Then I noticed Battery gauge kept dipping down. So I bought a new battery. Still have the same problems. All the gauges are going haywire. I have a full tank of gas that occasionally the gauge dips to empty. The oil light dips to nothing. The temperature gauge goes down to nothing. SO I went to Auto Zone and they tested the battery and it was 100% and he tested my alternator and it was good.
Then when I went to start the Bravada back up, it started but NO LIGHTS on the DASH and NO GAUGES MOVED! My tachometer said 0. My gas, oil, temp, and battery light were all stuck on 0. The autozone guy messed with it and couldn't get things to work. Finally he disconnected my battery and touched the cables together to reset the battery and finally my instrument cluster came to life.
But, it still has all of it's problems. Auto Zone guy says it's either the ignition switch or the computer. I think he is full of it. Google suggests it is actually a bad instrument cluster. If so, I know how to replace the cluster but how would I be able to get the new cluster to say the mileage of my old cluster? My miles are low for the age and my title is actual mileage so I want that to remain. Do you all agree that it needs a new instrument cluster or are there any other ideas? Thanks!!
