440 T4 ? I have a olds delta 88 Royal 3.8 automatic. Just bought the car and i'd like to do a tranny tune up. Filter, fluid, gasket and modulator. How do I know if I have a 440 T4 or something different? Could I tell from the vin # or do I have to get a number off the tranny itself? Thanks for any advice. westfield,ma

First what year is this car?

You will eithr have a THM440-T4( 4T60 ) or a 4T60-E depending on the model year..

There will also be an RPO code listing in the trunk most likely on thew trunk lid or the spare tire cover...

Look for codes

ME9 THM440-T4( 4T60 )
M13 4T60-E ( 4T60 - Electronicly controled )

Also there will be some gear ratio codes...

You could have an F17 2.84 Ratio or an F79 2.97 ratio on the 440-T4

The 4T60 - E could have the F17 2.84, or FW2 3.06 ratio... Most of the F79's were attached to the SC'd 3800 or the Caddy 4.9...

Good Luck, Hope that helps a little... :)

It's a 1989 delta 88 royale brougham. Thanks for the help. Sorry I forgot the year.
