I have a 1991 Olds Cutlass Cruiser. It has the 3.3L V6. The cars condition overall is quite amazing. The engine and transmission are probably in very good shape internally. The car was well kept and oil changed regularly. Has only been driven two winters, and not very often (rust checked before its first winter). Fuel economy is very poor in this beast. 20 city, which is killer. 30 on the highway (which technically, for its size and the time it was made, isn't too bad, but its no 42-44 mpg).
I am jealous of what appears to be better fuel economy numbers listed for some of the newer GM engines. I have seen figures of 26 city and 44 highway for some of the newer V6 engines used in the Impala etc. Is there anything in a newer GM engine and tranny that would fit in this body/platform without too much hassle? If you don't think there is or you think my idea won't work or isn't worth it, fine, but please don't waste your time thread crapping and not provide at least some idea of what can and cannot be done.
thanx,
