I have a 1989 Delta 88 Royale Brougham 3.8 liter. Car won't start and I need help. I turn the key and nothing happens. No click, nothing. I assumed this was a neutral safety switch problem because the shift selecter stayed on OD only. By the way I have a digital dash. I just replaced the safety switch and now the shift selecter is doing what its supposed to do but didn't solve the no start problem. The last couple of days I would turn the key to start it up and after a few second delay it would fire right up and sometimes it would turn over without a delay. Any idea what the problem would be? Power is not getting to the starter. Bad ignition? Something else between the ignition and the starter? Car will not start. Thanks in advance for any help. westfield,ma.

Have you checked the battery. Even in cases where there battery should not be the problem sometimes it is. Batteries are funny like that.

Yes i did check the battery and cleaned the connecters. I'm checking the ignition switch now and I have power going in and out. Any other ideas?

I just figured it out. There was a homemade ignition kill switch under the dash that shorted out. Cut out the switch and spliced the leads together and she fired right up. :) thanks for your input. westfield, ma
