Olds SS rims / Super Sport Wheels And Size For the '80s Olds Delta 88? (Best Options)

Hi guys, what the best option for the size and version SS rims / Super Sport wheel(s) to fit best on the 80s Olds Delta 88s that came with 15-inch wheel(s)?

I have an 82 Delta 88 . I am thinking about the same thing . I have wheel covers on now . My stock original steel rims are 15 x 7 . The bolt / lug pattern is 5 by 4 and 3/4 . The SS rim in pic below as you can see is also 15 x 7 . On other sites they say the SS 15 x 7 was an option as most SS were 14 inch . I put one of the SS 15 x7 on the front of my car , the rim clears the brake calipers . The center caps for the rims i have are snap in .

Hi, I appreciate your reply. This is needed information. You have the snap-on center cap. So, I know it's a Super Stock 3/SS-III version. 15 × 7 JJ, I'll look for that. From online researching, the 1969-75 SS1, SS2 or SS3 version rallies won't fit the 80s GM B-Body/G-Body vehicles. Whether it's a 15" wheel or not, but all I've been seen are 14" SS wheels. I was wondering if the 14" SS-III wheels would fit the 80s Delta 88 w/stock 15" wheel. Just trying to be aware of my options. Thanks for all of your help.

For me i would not go with a smaller rim than 15 inch . Even the owners with 14 inch SS rims are looking for SS 15 inch. I have 4 SS rims but might not even use them. I have been looking at tires to put on the 15 inch SS rims . The tires i have now are 215 75 r 15 . Its getting harder to get 15 inch tires. Where i live all 15 inch tires are a special order . There is so much side wall on the 215 75 r 15 that they always look low on air ! So my local tire shops say get a larger rim , will be a wider range of tires , better price and will not look low on air . So maybe think about what tires you want to use before buying rims. Its a big heavy car so have to look at weight index rating of tires . The wheel covers i have now are sure easy to keep clean ! Have you seen any stock original Oldsmobile rims larger than 15 inch ?

I would prefer a set of 15" SS3 wheels, but as you stated. They're scarce and when they are available. Owners are wanting an arm and a leg for them. My goal is a set of those w/225 × 70 r15 or 215 × 75 r15 white raised lettering.

No sir, haven't seen oem SS Rims / Super Sport Wheel larger than a 15".

Here's a way to figure the tire size in inches. 25.4 mm = 1"
Width is the first number of the tire.
Second number is the height, which is the percentage of the width.

235×60r15
Width: 235 mm ÷ 25.4 mm = 9.25"
Height: 60 = 60% × 9.25" = 5.55"

245×60r15
W: 245 mm × 25.4 mm = 9.65"
H: 9.65" × 60% = 5.79"

Not that big of differences. You get the ideal.

did you find some 15 inch SS rims ?

I have had trouble in the past with old rims having a slow air leak , so i took all my SS rims ( no tires on them ) to a tire shop to have the bead area cleaned at speed while on the balancing machine. Then checked with a dial indicator gauge (very slow turn) while still on the balancing machine , all had a slight hop ! tire shop said all rims from that time period were not round but said the rims i have were safe to use and i would not find a rim that did not have a slight hop . Then I took them all to a hot rod shop to rework the outer rim dents and reshape the metal, I then had them all sand blasted , unreal how much $ i now have into those rims !

so if you buy rims have a tire shop check them ( no tire on rim) and see if they also have a slight hop .
anyone with these rims please give us feed back on how your rims check out with the dial indicator gauge while on the tire machine , is this true ? they all hop !
