how do you go about taking the back seat out? i bought some speakers that i want to put in, but i cant figure out how to get the old ones out.

any help would be appreciated
thanks in advance

From the Haynes Repair Manual for GM full-size FWD models:

Rear Seat
Remove the seat cushion retaining bolts, detatch the seat cushion and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation is the reverse of removal.

I am looking at a speaker upgrade myself. Why do they make it so darn hard?

Yeahthey are a major pain in the ass to remove and install. Most rear speakers are a snap to replace, but not these!

Just a little more info about the seat removal:
Take the bottom cushion off first by pushing it towards the back and pulling up at the same time, then you'll see the bolts for the seat back. Some of the bolts are attached to the seatbelts.

Have fun!!!!

Glad I got an 89. The rear speakers are accessible through the trunk. Just unscrew the plastic nuts and they pop right out. Thank god. My parents had a 89 Buick LeSabre before the car died, and putting in door and dash speakers were a real pain. Had to disassemble the whole top of the dash, plus disassemble both door panels completely.
