My family is interested in putting in a working sttereo in the Olds 88. New speakers and a new cd player. We are wanting to keep the genuine old looking factory stereo. Any suggestions for the factory replacement speakers? What success has anyone had with a newer stereo?

Well, before upgrading to a pioneer head unit, I had a radio from a '96 Grand AM in my '89 Bonneville. I don't know how compatible everything is, but it worked for me. For sound quality though, I have to suggest going aftermarket. The difference with the Pioneer was noticeable, even with the stock speakers. Plus, I can play MP3's, which is very very nice. I crammed 9 CD's of music onto 1 MP3 CD, with very high quality. If I didn't care about the sound quite as much, I could have done twice that.
