I have a 1992 Osmobile Eighty Eight. I has been blowing hot air latley when the AC is turned on. Here is my problem though, I thought it was low on freon but when I went to recharge it the guage said it had plenty of freon in it. The compressor turns on and stays on like it's suposed to but I cannot get cool air, any ideas as what I can check next??

I also have a '92 88, but this possible fix may not be appllicable.
After having a garage repair (needed switch and relay) and recharge my system
(converted to R134-A), I was told that I needed a new "actuator". This , I found out, was the sliding switch on the hot/cold air blender. Without it, you would literally need to hold the sliding switch onthe left under "cold" to get cold air while you were driving. After 13 years of use, I can see how this slider could wear out.
Since it's still summer, the mechanic disengaged the switch so that I can use the air
until the Fall. At that time, I will need to install another module that's composed of the sliding switch and the dial for the heater/ac on the dashboard (square component).
He quoted me approx. $200 for the part (used, no less!)and $100 labor, but
I found 2 sites on the 'net where a new part is $140+tax/ship or $160inc.
Needless to say, I will purchase it and have a friend put it in!
