So it will stall whether the car is warmed or cool. The dealer said the code he got said it was the crank sensor. He says labor will take about 3 hours to replace it and 290 dollars from my wallet. Fair deal or no?

Heres a description of what the car does in case you have any diff thoughts on it.

The problem I have had for some time now is the car cutting out on me as I drive. No sputtering stall just turns right off. I then pull over to the side of the road and either turn the car right back on, or can't start it again from anywhere 5 mins to an hour at the most so far. One exception to the stall was that I was accelerating from a stop light when the car cut out, then kicked back in a second later which caused the car to lunch forward. It then didn't stall till the next time I drove. Of course then again it could go weeks without happening.

Well if that's the code he gets, it could be a come-and-go problem with that sensor. If it's outright dead, your car simply won't run. It could however also just be a loose connection TO that sensor. You can also do this yourself for far cheaper than $290, with a little know-how. I'd look into that first, unless you're made of money.
