Has anyone successfully changed their fuel filter?

I've been trying to loosen the flare nut but it's starting to round off. I'm using a flare nut wrench and have tried an adjustable wrench and vice grips on the filter. The position is awkward so it's hard to get leverage. Would have been nice if they used quick connects on both ends instead of just 1; I'd have been done with this on the first attempt.

The fitting is moderately rusty but it doesn't seem too bad (picture attached).

Any suggestions would be great. I'm ready to give up and pay a mechanic to do it

Also changed mine in the past few weeks. I just took the quick connect side off, unbolted the bracket so it would hang down a little, and spun the filter off the flare nut instead of putting all the torque on the flare nut itself if that makes any sense. Worked perfectly.
