'82 Delta 88

just got this Olds Delta 88...belonged to an older relative and has been sitting for a while. before I got it, they had some work done on it....plugs/wires, oil & filter...etc. nothing major. it's been a GA car all it's life until now and adjusting to 6500-7500 feet will be hard on it. it starts and runs good at idle and while cruising down the road....but when you stop and start off it seems to be flooding, well it's stalling. it starts right back and will take off fine. 2 concerns for now....the stalling and a serious lack of power. ideas before I start looking for a mechanic? thanks

Sounds like you need a service manual to adjust the carb for high altitude settings. You need a service to adjust these computer controlled carbs or it will run like crap. You still did not tell us if this a 307 V8 or 231 V6.

If it is a 307, the "lack of power" may be endemic to the engine? That was my experience with the same engine in a Buick.
