Help Identify Radio

Hello all! I hope you don't mind me registering on the forum for this post, but i'm in need of a little help.

I found this radio in my fathers garage and someone told me that it may be out of a 40s-50s Oldsmobile or Cadillac. Doing some google searching I could not really find any solid information. Although I did notice that of the majority of the radio's that came back in the results, Oldsmobile seemed to have the most radio's with black push buttons- so I am trying my luck here first.

'Philco' is written in a couple different places and there are various number's stamped throughout. No direct motor vehicle manufacturer written anywhere. Can take more pictures if anyone would like.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post!

Posting Pics

Sorry, I can't help you identify the vehicle that the radio may have come from. I am curious, however, as to how you were able to post pictures as a new member. I wasn't able to and another member, pogster, was kind enough to post them for me as a work-around. Any forum administrator care to weigh in?
Good luck on finding out about your radio, though.

I have an account on imageshack.us . I uploaded my image there, and then used the forum thumbnail code that is available. I did however just noticed the "FYI" message at the top of the forum. Perhaps the administrator that approved my post granted me leigh-way due to the subject?

Thanks for the reply. Maybe the forum trusts images from imageshack because they go through some sort of screening process to ensure there is nothing malicious in the pics. Admin dude, care to respond?

has to be 50's or newer. the little circles with a triangle in the middle are public emergency channels that were for nuclear attacks when we were scared of the russians

I D Radio

Hello,
If it's a Philco it was not from a Caddy or Olds this is sure.

Formerly the Philadelphia Electric battery storage company was sold to Ford Motor Company and produce all of thier radios for many years through the 70's

Can you tell through the back if it has glass tubes in it. The stopped tube radios in the late 50's and switched to transistors.

Looks like a Mercury or Lincoln type to me or could be a underdash aftermarket.

Thanks Rich
