2001 Aurora automatic headlight issue

Hello all,

I have been driving my Aurora full time now and its great not many issues to point out. *knock on wood* One thing I have noticed however is that my headlights don't turn off. The odd thing is that if I shine light on the photocell sensor the lights on the doors go out but the the lights on my dash and center console go to full brightness and my headlights are still on and of course if I force the headlights off the DIC complains to turn on my headlights. Im not going to lie I wish more cars would tell drivers when their headlights are off in drive at night but I guess that's to advanced and high-end for some of the new vehicles today lmao. Even my 1994 Cutlass supreme wont allow that.

I think they are performing as designed (though I'm speaking from other GM vehicles, not an Aurora specifically, if different). Are your daytime running lights, the headlights; if they are, then the headlights remain on, the dash goes to full bright (because it is daytime and it will help you see if you get shadows on the dash), and the running lights should go out. By running lights I am referring to the side-marker and rear brake running lights (brake lights should only shine when the brake is actuated).

I managed to resolve the issue. I took the sensor out cleaned it and put it back in not it is functional normally and I can get only DRL in the daytime with the fog lights completely off. My Intrigue only allowed the fog lights on with your headlights at night. Thank you for your input.
