Security Light and Ignition

I have a 2002 Intrigue GL. The SECURITY light has been coming on and staying on sometimes. The car starts fine. I understand this to be a problem with the PASSLOCK system. I also understand you can fix this by replacing the ignition switch. Here is my question: I have seen videos where they replace the ignition switch and use the old lock cylinder, but I do not want to do all of this work and find out it was the lock cylinder. How do I know if the problem is in the ignition switch, lock cylinder, or something else?

I too have this issues with intermittent on/off of security light in past month or so. This website shows where all the circuits are located around lock cylinder: http://www.bergerweb.net/PasslockFix/

Another tutorial on the electric panels is here, too:

Miss that Olds 442? Believe it or not, Kia may have something for you. The Kia Stinger is a large sport-oriented hatchback sedan in the mold of the Audi A7.
