VIN vs. Body number

Have partial build sheet indicating a W30, and VIN only confirms 442. Is there a source to match VIN with body number?
Understandably I need to confirm W330 before I invest in a serious gut wrenching restotation!!

Pictures would help. Ok first off, very few build sheets made out of the main plant in Lansing. What you have is a Fisherbody broadcast card marked W30 in the second line.

72 was the only year verified through the VIN with an X.

Your VIN should start with 344870M (holiday)
344770M (sport)
344670M (convertible)
Change the 0 (1970) to 1 for (1971)
F heads and OW for automatic transmission with matching VIN these are good signs for a W30 along with Red fender wells as long as things are not altered or look new.

4 speed cars had no power assist for the brakes and 1971 and 72 had a unique inline filter from the fuel pump to carb.
