Fwiw, anybody that asks if they can swap engines in a computer controlled car, should not even think if it!!!!

Get a 3.8 from the junkyard.
Imho, it's a ZILLION times better than the flaming POS short-star 3.5 engine with it's typical CR*P GM head/bolt design problems.

The 2001 has an AIR system.
You also don't have the correct ABS for a 2001 ECM. Yes, they ARE MARRIED!
And, so many other problems.
The ECM/BCM must talk to each other. They both control EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!

As I said, *anyone* that asks if they can go an engine swap, should not even think of it.

Go get a pre '78 GM/Ford car. Swap all you want.

Doesn't make sense

The 3800 was manufactured from 1962 until 2008, the LX5 from 1999 to 2002. Parts are disappearing for the Oldsmobile LX5. Parts for the Buick 3800 will be around for another 20 years at least. The LX5 was discontinued because its gain in horsepower was minimal and it was costly to produce.

The 3800 is a relatively simple little guy to swap out. Perhaps the LX5 came into your possession for little or no expense. However, long-term the 3800 is the better engine to put in one's vehicle.

Update...Sorry. Didn't read your original post carefully. Thought you were doing an engine swap. Glad to hear your transmission went in okay.
