High mount stop light

The high mount stop light in my 94 Cruiser wagon stopped working. The rear window defogger would turn on when I hit the brake pedal.

The light is fed from the upper left side of the tailgate. It travels through the lift support, around the defogger grid and is grounded by two brass contacts in the tailgate body. After checking the voltage all around I determined that the grounds were not connecting. A brief sanding with 600 emory cloth on the contact points of the grid and bending the brass contacts cured the problem. High mount stop light working and rear window defogger only on when dashboard switch is turned on.
