Issue with Chime and power door locks

Hi all, I am new to the group and just recently got an 02 Olds Intrigue. I am having an issue when the drivers door is open the chime goes off like when you have the key in ignition and also you have to hold the power door lock button for a couple seconds before it will lock if any door is open, if all doors are closed it will lock right away. Before this there was no chime when the drivers door was open and when you hit the power lock button with the drivers door open it would it would chime 2 or 3 times then hit it again and it would lock. Any ideas what would be causing this is there anyway to turn the chime off, I can deal with having to hold the lock button down for a few seconds to lock the car, but having the chime go off every time the door is open is getting annoying

I'm getting a bit confused of your description for closing and locking your doors.

If you are leaving the vehicle (and wishing it to lock) you hit the lock button on the door, the car will chime and after you close the door it will lock after a few seconds. This is by design.

If you hit the lock button twice the doors will lock and when you close the door the vehicle would/should be locked.

The chiming is to remind you that the vehicle wants to lock, and to make sure you have the fob (in hand) before exiting. From what you are describing, and by my interpretation, the system is functioning as is should.

What you are describing is the way it was working previously, but now it is chiming when the driver door is open and there is no key in the ignition or any other reason for it to chime and now with the power locks you have to hold the button down for several seconds before it will lock if you hit it once it does nothing you have to hold the button down now for several seconds to get it to lock
