O.E. oil dipstick needed

Just purchased 1967 442 convertible. All stock from original owners family. Doesn't have dipstick just a bent up wire. So nothing to go by.
I am brand new to the oldsmobile so not much knowledge of them.
I was at the original owners home the day he brought it home!

Has 400 engine. Automatic trans. Use to be a beautiful car, will be again! Steve

You need to know if the dip stick tube has been broken off, and some of it is still in the hole / engine block . There are some clever ways to get it out , but some have had to remove the engine/ take the oil pan off and punch the old dip stick tube out from the oil pan side .

i think there is only after market dip stick tubes , and most likely chromed .

I have a similar situation as i need to replace a frost plug ,but the dip stick tube is in the way , if i break it off , it's a can of worms .

If you find that your dip stick tube is broken off then try the forum Oldsmobile power for some ides of how to get it out .
